Description

The Holybro UM982 Dual Antenna RTK GPS provides high-precision positioning information and is capable of generating non-magnetometer moving baseline yaw determinations for autopilots with one single GPS module.

One of the best applications of this GPS is to provide compass-less YAW information to the autopilot (commonly called GPS Heading or Moving Baseline Yaw). Using this GPS as a yaw source prevents magnetic interference from the vehicle motors and electrical systems and any environmental interference sources, such as metallic structures or equipment, that can cause incorrect yaw reports to the autopilot.

This works even if the GPSs are not receiving RTCM data from a fixed RTK station or NTRIP server. The device is based on the Unicore UM982 NMEA GNSS module and supports RTK positioning adjustment for centimeter-level accuracy, GPS/GLONASS,Beidou, Galileo, and QZSS global positioning systems.

It also includes a magnetometer, LED, and safety switch button. It also serves as an RTK-corrected vehicle GPS, with or without moving baseline yaw determination, and as a base station GPS for sending RTCM data to a ground control station to provide an RTK source for the vehicle via telemetry.

Features

  • Dual antennas allow Moving Baseline Yaw (GPS Heading) with just one module
  • Can replace the traditional compass/magnetometer
  • Perfect for system/environment with high magnetic interference
  • Excellent RTK performance

Q&A

Questions and answers of the customers

Hi, I am planning to buy two set of this heading units for our autonomous project , I need one to be used as base ( receiving N trip correction and giving out correction through Lora radio units), another one used as Rover (both can record/gives position and heading accurately). I don't know what's the different of this module and this slightly expensive one: Holybro H-RTK mosaic-H (Dual Antenna Heading). What do I need to buy to build RTK GPS set up. what control software and data collecting software this two module uses, is it a Mobile app or need a laptop for each unit (base and rover). Many thanks.

The UM982 uses a Unicore GNSS chipset and is a cost-effective dual-antenna RTK module. The mosaic-H is built on Septentrioโ€™s industrial-grade chipset, offering stronger multipath rejection, better heading accuracy at low speeds, and a built-in web interface that simplifies configuration and monitoring.

To build an RTK setup, youโ€™ll need two modules (one base, one rover), dual-band GNSS antennas for each, and telemetry radios (e.g., LoRa) to send RTCM corrections from base to rover. Both modules require configuration over USB or serial.

    Software Setup & Integration:

    • For the UM982, use a USB/serial terminal like SerialTool or U-Center to configure GNSS settings, select output formats (e.g., NMEA or UBlox binary), and enable correction streams.

    • For the mosaic-H, configuration is typically done via its built-in web interface, accessible over USB or Ethernet. Septentrio also offers advanced logging and update tools.

    Autopilot Integration:

    • After initial configuration, both modules can be connected to flight controllers running ArduPilot or PX4.

    • If youโ€™re using Mission Planner (ArduPilot), it can handle GPS input and also inject NTRIP corrections directly to the rover via telemetry.

    • If youโ€™re using QGroundControl (PX4), it will display RTK status, heading, and positioning data. QGC can also handle NTRIP correction injection if the base station is online.

Neither module relies on a mobile appโ€”setup requires a laptop or companion computer for configuration and monitoring.
