FrSky GPS ADV Plus Telemetry Sensor with Barometer (Variometer) + Compass

The FrSky GPS ADV Plus Telemetry Sensor builds upon the original GPS ADV by combining a high-performance GPS receiver with an integrated variometer (barometer) and electronic compass in a single compact module. It provides real-time telemetry including GPS position, speed, distance, GPS altitude, barometric altitude, vertical speed and UTC time, which can be displayed on compatible FrSky transmitters or logged to the radio’s SD card.

Like the original GPS ADV, the GPS ADV Plus is particularly useful for lost model recovery, providing the coordinates of your aircraft while it remains within radio range, or its last reported position if the radio link is lost.

Compared to the standard GPS ADV, the GPS ADV Plus offers improved GPS sensitivity, greater positioning accuracy and more accurate speed measurements, helping it achieve more reliable satellite reception and telemetry performance.

A major advantage of the GPS ADV Plus is its dual operating modes. It can operate as a conventional telemetry sensor connected directly to a FrSky receiver via FBUS or Smart Port (S.Port), or it can be connected directly to a compatible flight controller via I²C and serial interfaces. When used with a flight controller, the built-in SPL06 barometer and IST8310/IST8308 compass provide accurate altitude, vertical speed and heading information for supported navigation functions.

Please note that when used purely as a telemetry sensor connected to a FrSky receiver, the GPS ADV Plus does not provide autonomous GPS navigation or Return-to-Home functionality. Those features depend on the capabilities of the connected flight controller.

For best performance, install the sensor with the label side facing upwards to ensure optimum satellite reception.

The FrSky ADVANCE (ADV) sensor range fully supports both FBUS and Smart Port (S.Port) protocols. Using FBUS, ADV sensors can be seamlessly paired with compatible FrSky receivers, simplifying wiring and model installation. Multiple ADV sensors can also be daisy-chained together, allowing you to combine GPS, voltage, current, RPM and other telemetry sensors into a comprehensive real-time telemetry system.
