This particular sensor (voltage divider) is used to read the voltage of an external battery (up to 5S) eg. LiPo flight battery, video or other accessory battery. Combined with a Taranis radio you can monitor your LiPo voltage during flight and set alarms to warn you before voltage drops to dangerous levels.
It is connected directly to the external analogue telemetry port (A2) provided on FrSky telemetry enabled two-way ‘D’ series receivers. There are three voltage ranges to choose: 1S lipo for battery voltage range from 0V~6.6V, 3S lipo for 0V~13.2V and up to 5S lipo for 0V~19.8V. The sensor is set by default for 3S Li-Po. You will need a soldering iron to change this setting (solder jumper bridge on the PCB). If you intend to use batteries only up to 3S, you can get more accurate voltage metering by simply re-soldering the red wire to pin 2S. The battery voltage division ratio for each option is: 2:1 (1S) / 4:1 (up to 3S )/ 6:1 (up to 5S).
Please note this sensor requires a receiver with an analogue telemetry port (A2) to work, it’s not compatible with the FrSky Smart Port. The sensor works with: D8R-II Plus and XP, D4R-II, XSR, X4R, X6R and others.
