Upgrade your FPV drone to a whole new level of capability with this impressive dual-sensor camera from Tarot.
The camera has a conventional visible light sensor and also a thermal imaging sensor. You can switch between between an IR image and a standard visual image at the flick of a switch. You can even display both images on the same output using a picture-in-picture mode.
Using this camera’s thermal sensing capabilities you will be able to detect heat signatures, identify obstacles and even see in low-visibility conditions that would be impossible to navigate using a normal camera. To help interpret the IR image, you can then use the regular camera output.
In terms of image quality and performance, the IR image resolution is 256×192, operating with a 25Hz frame rate and a thermal contrast (NETD) of 50mk. The camera offers a choice of 20 colour palettes to pick from to suit different applications. These can be selected via push buttons on the rear of the camera or remotely via PWM control. In regards to the standard visual sensor that utilises a 1/2.8″ size CMOS sensor offering a 1920×1080 resolution.
The camera can be used with any analog FPV video transmitter. It comes housed in a aluminium case, attached to a tilt adjustment mount.
The camera requires a 7-30v power supply. To setup the switch functions requires a PWM signal, this could be from your radio receiver or configured as a auxiliary output on a flight controller (pinio_box function).
Beyond FPV drone flying, this mini thermal imaging camera is versatile and can be used for a variety of applications. Explore wildlife monitoring, search and rescue missions, scientific research, thermal inspections or even home security.
