High-precision digital airspeed sensor with UAVCAN support and wide 400 km/h measurement range.
The Matek ASPD-AUAV Digital Airspeed Sensor is designed for fixed-wing UAV and RC aircraft requiring accurate and reliable airspeed data. Based on the AUAV-L30D differential pressure sensor, it offers improved still-air offset performance and a wider measurement range compared with many traditional airspeed sensors.
The sensor supports UAVCAN (DroneCAN), I²C, and MSP interfaces, allowing flexible integration with modern flight controllers and autopilot systems. UAVCAN connectivity provides robust digital communication and simplified wiring for aircraft using CAN-based avionics networks.
With a maximum airspeed measurement of up to 400 km/h, the ASPD-AUAV is well suited for fast fixed-wing platforms, VTOL aircraft, and long-range UAVs. Despite its capability, the sensor remains lightweight and efficient, drawing only around 26 mA and weighing approximately 5 g.
Compact and easy to integrate, the ASPD-AUAV provides precise airflow data that can improve flight efficiency, autopilot performance, and stall protection.
Features
- Dual interface support (DroneCAN/CAN + I2C) for flexible wiring and system compatibility
- Based on the AUAV-L30D differential pressure sensor for high precision and minimal drift
- Wide speed measurement range up to 400km/h (≈111 m/s) covering fast fixed-wing and UAV builds
- Low power consumption (~26mA) and compact form factor (36×32×7.3mm) make it suited to light aircraft
- Compatible with ArduPilot as AP_Periph peripheral node for telemetry and flight-data logging
- Input voltage range of 4.5V–5.5V simplifies power supply integration
Interfaces:
- CAN JST-GH connector, DroneCAN Protocol
- I2C JST-GH connector, AUAV-L30D I2C mode
- TX2, MSP protocol

Tips
- CAN Baro is enabled by default, If you don’t use the Baro integrated in AUAV, set “BARO_ENABLE = 0” in “Mission Planner->Initial Setup->Optional Hardware->UAVCAN->MAVlink CANx -> Menu Parameters”
- ArduPilot has removed AUAV I2C support by default on flight controller with 1MB flash MCU(such as F405, F745 series).
AUAV vs. DLVR
Example log comparison of the AUAV-L30D and DLVR sensors, showing the AUAV providing a cleaner zero-airspeed baseline and wider measurable speed range.
