Emax Nighthawk Pro 280 Spare Part: 10 Degree Inclined Motor Mounts (4Pcs – Quadcopter).
Tilted motor mounts improve speed and visibility. For any multirotor to travel forward the entire frame has to pitch forward. The greater the pitch angle, the faster the craft can go. The negative effect of tilting the craft in this way is two fold. Firstly, it increases drag which reduces the top speed and secondly it forces the camera(s) to be pointed towards the ground, meaning the pilot can’t see where they are going. Tilted motor mounts solve both problems by keeping the frame more level during fast forward flight.
The mounts are numbered one to four and must be fitted to their respective motor. Also, once fitted, you must make a small setup adjustment, otherwise the quadcopter will move forward when level. You can either run a new accelerometer calibration with the craft tilted so that the props are level, or tilt compensation can be set in software via the following command:
OpenPilot: In GCS, go to INS and change Pitch to -10*
Naze32 / FLIP 32: In CLI type set align_board_pitch = +10*
*This number should match the tilt of the inclined motor mounts, typically 10 degrees.
