The Firefly X Lite is lightweight 4K recording camera designed for small Cinewhoops. The camera has been created in the style of a ‘Naked GoPro’ camera. It does away with a screen, battery and substantial case, all with the idea of saving weight. The result is a camera that only weighs 34grams, whereas the FireFly X, which is a camera that shares the same internals, weighs 123grams.
The X Lite uses a SONY IMX377 12 Mega WDR CMOS sensor. It is capable of recording in 4K resolution at 60 frames per second. It also records in 2.7K/60fps and 2.5K/60fps. In 2.5K mode there is an option for electronic image stabilisation too. In terms of image quality, while it’s not on a level with an actual stripped back GoPro 6-8, it is still a good choice and budget friendly option for amateur videographers and hobbyists. Also unlike an actual Naked GoPro camera, with the X Lite you don’t have to do any DIY destruction to make it, it’s ready to go out of the box.
Like other ‘Naked’ style recording cameras, the X Lite includes a mount that fits both the GoPro and SMO 4K style camera mounts. You can also mount it inverted as it support image flip.
The camera can be powered via USB-C or a 5v direct input. Included with the camera is a USB-C voltage regulator adapter, which can be connected to the balance plug of a 3-6S LiPo.
Finally, the camera also has a WiFi function, which allows it to be configured via a Smartphone App.
