The BH-881 is an updated version of the popular BN-880, offering the same dependable GPS and compass functionality with newer hardware and a modern digital magnetometer. It’s a great option for fixed-wing and multirotor builds, and works well with iNav, Betaflight (for GPS Rescue), and other autopilot firmware that supports the UBlox protocol used by most Beitian GPS modules.
The module combines a high-sensitivity multi-GNSS receiver with the QMC5883P I2C compass for accurate heading and fast 3D satellite fixes. Like the original BN-880, it includes onboard flash memory for storing configuration, but for most applications it works straight out of the box. With iNav, simply select UBlox and set your baud rate for automatic configuration; Betaflight users can enable GPS and Rescue mode as normal.
For best performance, mount the module with the antenna facing upwards and keep it clear of interference sources such as VTX antennas, ESCs, and power wiring. This helps ensure the quickest satellite lock and the most stable compass readings.
