Most people are familiar with a multimeter for measuring voltage, a clamp meter is another type of electrical test tool that combines a basic digital multimeter with a current sensor. It has a hinged jaw which allows the user to clamp the jaws around a wire, cable or other conductor, then measure current in that circuit without disconnecting/deenergizing it. This particalar clamp meter can measure AC current up to 400A. It can also be used to measure AC/DC voltage, resistance, and perform a diode check and continuity test.
