The Q X7 Radio Controller been updated to the new ACCESS protocol and at the same time they’ve converted the battery compartment to use 2x 18650 Li-Ion cells and added support for USB battery charging.
The new ACCESS communication protocol that comes preinstalled as standard on the Q X7S radio also brings with it a whole host of new features. The radio now boasts 24 channels with a faster baud rate and lower latency thanks to its high-speed module digital interface. As with the rest of the ACCESS transmitters, it provides a secure and reliable link, along with wireless firmware updating making it fully compatible with FrSky’s newest line of OTA receivers.
If you want to use the ACCST protocol, D16 is supported so you can continue to use your existing X-series receivers without updating. D8 protocol (common for older micro quads) is no longer supported but the Q X7S does have a JR module bay so you could install the external XJT Module or a multi-protocol module to bind with D8 receivers. Finally, long range radio control modules like TBS Crossfire and FrSky R9M are also compatible.
The Q X7 is a lightweight feature packed reliable system and it comes in black or white colour scheme. Once again the excellent Quad Ball-Bearing Gimbals are used. There is also a module bay for use with JR-type modules that can be used with other protocol receivers like TBS Crossfire and with the use of a FrSky XJT module.
The Taranis mixes the power of the “OPEN TX” open-source software with an ergonomic case with 6 programmable switches (4 x 3-position, 1 x 2-position, 1 x momentary) and two twist knobs. Another popular of Open Tx is the power of alerts. With this radio, alerts can be presented in the form of audio speech outputs, sound or vibration alerts making this extremely user-friendly.
When it comes to programming the radio, the wheel and center enter button makes navigating the backlit menu easy and precise. The MicroSD card slot offers unlimited model memory options; it also has a USB port for upgrades and to connect to a PC for adjusting settings. As well as this there is the ability to use all your model files from the older TARANIS X9D/X9D Plus/X9E making it easy to get the new system up and working. Lastly, it’s also equipped with an audio jack output and trainer port as well.
Overall the FrSky Taranis Q X7 has the features of more expensive transmitters at an unprecedented value.
