An effective electronic payload release mechanism from Tarot. Its recommend use is for up to 20KG loads, but Tarot have tested it for 40KG and found it to be effective. The thrower device is controlled via a PWM signal. After operating, the device is simply reset by pushing the side button and lifting the release level.
Multiple units could be operated at the same time if connected to the same PWM output via Y leads. Alternatively units could be independently operated by being connected to different PWM channels.
Notes on LED indicator:
1: PWM signal input value 0-59%: The red LED is always on/no device action.
2: PWM signal input value reaches 60-100%: The LED green light flashes once / the device drop switch is turned on once; the LED light stays on green after the drop is over.
3: LED red light flashes (2 times/second) when no PWM signal input is detected by the device.

At what voltage does the thrower operate? And at what PWM frequency?

A Hi, it operates on 5 volts. Sorry we don't have the specification for PWM frequency, however it works with PWM radio receivers or PWM servo servo testers (if the mechanism doesn't trigger, you will just need to increase the channel range).

I bought this for an addition to a clients octocopter. I’ve previously used the lighter duty TAROT version but this time needed something for a much heavier payload.
It works a treat although it is a bit more fiddly to load up the cargo, but having said that you don’t need to have the transmitter to do it so for fleet operations a better solution.
Solidly built, I expect it to last a long time
