This is the latest version of the RunCam Racer. This V3 model improves on V2 by optmising the image quality for OLED goggles. A new 1.8mm option also offers a wider FOV. Finally, its firmware can now be updated using an FC and the SpeedyBee bluetooth module.
The range of FPV cameras is now huge and to be honest a little confusing. The good news is RunCam might have made your decisions a little simpler with their latest camera, the RunCam Racer. As the name suggests, the RunCam Racer is a camera specifically designed for FPV racing drones, so if that's what your looking to buy one for, then look no further.
The Racer combines all of the elements needed to make a camera perform well for FPV racing. Most importantly it boasts very low latency of only 6ms and high image sharpness; these are important characteristics for helping you to avoid obstacles and fly through race gates as quickly as possible. Furthermore the camera has an excellent dynamic range so that you can see shadow details well, and it responds to exposure changes very quickly, which is important if you are flying on a sunny day. Equally the camera works well in low light conditions, performing arguably better than the Micro Swift 3 in that respect.
Next onto the form of the camera itself. At only 5.5, is very light so it's not going to slow your quad down. It's also micro sized, so suitable for all quads and with the included 19-28mm mount adapter you can use it on the larger frames that require a standard size FPV camera. Unlike the RunCam Swift Micro, the RunCam Racer benefits for a fully enclosed protective housing, so it should be more durable.
Other features include the ability to switch between 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios making it compatible with all FPV goggles. There's also an OSD function for displaying battery voltage, pilot name and time. Finally, the camera supports BetaFlight remote control so that you can change the camera parameters directly from your remote control.
