A microphone might sound like a pointless add-on to many, but there are benefits to be had from having a live audio feed coming back from your FPV drone as well as the video. Sound yields a surprising amount of feedback; it is one of our great senses after all. By being able to hear what your motors are doing live, you’ll get an instinctive feeling for your throttle position which if you are racing circuits, might just help you to be more consistent and go even faster. It could also help you to get into the zone so to speak and not get confused by the sound coming from other drones flying around you.
Sure, it won’t be for everyone, the noise of your props screaming isn’t going to make it to the No.1 spot in the charts, but to FPV racers, running a Mic is just one of the ways in which you might be able to get an edge over your competitors. Check out this blog post which talks more about using Mics on FPV racing quads.
The Mic is easily installed and only weighs a gram. Like your FPV camera, it is also wired to your FPV transmitter. Note that your FPV transmitter must have an audio input. Alternatively most of the FXT FPV transmitters have a microphone built-in, however the audio quality isn’t as good as running a dedicated microphone like this one.
