Flysky FS-ST8 10CH Remote Control (Upgraded Version) with 8 Channel Receiver.
A lot of beginner pilots start with a FlySky radio. They offer great value for money and are simple to use. The ST8 continues that trend being a sub £100 radio, which boast a lot of functionality and offers a more straightforward programming interface in comparison to radios running open source projects like OpenTx/EdgeTx.
Essentially the ST8 is a refreshed version of the popular i6X/i6S radios. The obvious change is that has a new more modern styling and even has programmable LEDS for a bit of fun. There have been more practical changes too. The awkward programming buttons have been replaced with a simple scroll wheel and the menu interface has been updated too. Any changes made to settings are now automatically saved which greatly improves the ease of use. Other additions include a USB-C connector which is used for firmware updates, simulator work and can also power the radio. The new shark fin style antenna double up as a carry handle. Range as standard is stated at around 1000m (airborne applications), however there is a external antenna connector should you wish to install a higher gain antenna to boost signal reception.
The controller works in the 2.4Ghz band with ISM technology and the new ANT protocol. All receivers that can handle the ANT protocol can be bound with the ST8. It is not compatible with AFHDS 2A protocol receivers. Although Flysky sell an external module, the RM003 which can be used with the ST8 to allowing binding with AFHDS 2A receivers. The radio also supports telemetry sensors, including the new GPS sensor (FS-CGPS01).
The ST8 radio is available in two version, standard and upgraded. We are selling the upgraded version. This edition adds extra controls: two self centring shoulder dials and also two push keys on the back of the radio. Furthermore, it comes with an external module expansion bay adapter which supports proprietary Flysky modules (although not modules such as Crossfire or ExpressLRS). Additionally the upgrade version comes with parts to change the throttle stick feel and also modify it so that it self-centres.
The radio set includes the 8 channel FS-SR8 receiver, which can output signals in PWM, PPM, I.Bus and S.Bus.
For operation 4x AA cells or a small 2S Lipo pack with JST connector are required (not included). Alternatively you can power the radio via its USB-C port, so you could use a USB power brick as the supply.
Simple and intuitively designed, the FlySky ST8 transmitter with 10 channels (12 possible via firmware update) is suitable for beginners and more experienced modellers alike.
