Experience the world from new heights with the Hawkeye Thumb 4K HD FPV Camera. This impressive little camera sits in the lightweight FPV action camera category. The Hawkeye Thumb measures only 49×22×13.5mm and weighs just 15.5g. It’s comparable to cameras like the RunCam Thumb, Caddx Peanut, the Insta360 GO 3 and also Split style dual purpose FPV & recording cameras such as the Caddx Turtle V2, Caddx Tarsier V2 or Runcam Split HD. It’s a good option for setups where a GoPro would be too heavy or for pilots who are on a budget.
Despite its low price point, the camera delivers impressive 4k image quality, a built-in gyro for image stabilisation and real versatility; being able to be used as both a recording camera and as an analog FPV camera. Competing camera models often can’t be used as a FPV camera, but with the Hawkeye Thumb there’s a video-out pin which can be connected to an analog video transmitter. Furthermore, adding to its versatility you can use it as a webcam too! It can be set to output 1080P 30FPS video via its USB-C connector.
One standout feature of the Hawkeye 4K Thumb Camera is its ability to save gyro data while recording. This feature makes this camera fully compatible with Gyroflow, taking your flight footage to new levels of smoothness. Gyroflow is an open-source video stabilisation tool that utilises gyro data for motion compensation, allowing for gimbal-like stabilisation.
Incorporated into the body of the Hawkeye Thumb is a GoPro style mount, enabling you to install the camera into receiving mounts found on lots of drones without the need for a further casing and additional weight.
To save weight the Thumb does not have a built in battery. Instead it has to be powered from an external supply. However, unlike the RunCam Thumb which is limited to a 5v input, the Hawkeye Thumb camera supports 5-23V DC inputs, which makes it convenient to power it directly from your drone’s main battery.
The camera supports micro SD cards up to 64GB (not included) and records videos in H.265 format for better compression and quality.
