We like all of Matek's racing drone PDBs, but this has to be our favourite. It comes with an integrated XT60 power connection which not only looks the part, it stops your power cables from getting caught up in the props. We've also found it to be easy to solder and most importantly reliable.

Like all PDBs, it's job is to take power from your flight battery and break it out to your ESCs and other electronics. This board has 6 pairs of ESC solder pads, so it's suited to quads and hexas. It also has filtered 5 and 12V outputs to power your flight control and FPV gear. The 5V onboard BEC supports currents up to 2A continuous and the 12V supports up to 0.5A (bursts up to 0.8A). The board is compatible with 3-4S, but 4S is recommend. If 3s is used, the BEC will output the LiPo voltage minus 1V.

The board is a standard size PDB, so you can stack it cleanly with the CC3D, Naze and most other board type flight controllers using i's 30.5mm mounting holes.

About Power Distribution Boards (PDBs): A PDB is used to distribute power from the flight battery to the speed controllers (ESCs) and other auxiliaries. They make for a tidy and reliable installation. The alternative is a bird’s nest of cables back to the flight battery and a higher risk of bad connections over time, as connecting/disconnecting your battery will tugged on your wiring. Additionally if you need to replace an ESC you will have to cut into the wiring harness to detach it, with a PDB it's simply a case of unplugging/desoldering a connection. That said, if you are only wiring up a small quadcopter and space is tight, a wiring harness might be a better and lighter solution. Great consideration should be given to your power distribution, as any failure in the system will likely result in a loss of power to the motors. In this regard ensuring that your solution is able to handle the peak current draw from your electronics is top priority.
