Turn your drone into a pizza delivery aircraft with this payload release mechanism. We joke about pizzas because it seems to be an obsession of the News Channels, but aside from pizzas there are lots of other uses. For example, with it you could build an emergency response drone to deliver life buoys to struggling swimmers, or in sport fishermen are using drones to drop bait just where they need it.

The device itself is very simple. It uses a sliding pin mechanism, driven by a high quality metal-geared servo to cover and open a slot, which the hanging of a payload can be passed through.

We now sell two versions of this payload release mechanism: A single release version and a double throw version - please select as required.

Caution: The servo is position is controlled via a spare PWM auxiliary channel and 2/3 pos switch on your remote control. Please set the appropriate amount of travel in the remote control so that the dropper can work within the mechanical travel of the mechanism, otherwise the servo may be burnt.

What temperature range is this mechanism rated for?

By Beau (not verified) on

how exactly is the device remote control? Does it have anything to do with Arduinos? If so can anyone suggest a cheap one that will work with this model?

By Joel Cyriax (not verified) on

What is the maximum distance that the mechanism can work up to?

By admin on

I assume you are talking about the control distance? That would be limited by your radio control gear, for most systems that's about 1km.

Hi There,

Could of questions for you please? Is this servo compatible to be powered by a DJI Matrice 210 from the rear port and secondly, could the servo be remotely controlled by either of the controllers that comes with the Matrice...either a DJI Cendence remote controller or the secondary control which is a Insipre 2 remote controller?

Many Thanks for your time,

Adrian

By admin on

We don't sell the DJI Matrice so we can't say for sure, however I don't believe the Matrice has a PWM servo output which you would need to control this device, so in short, no I don't think it would be compatible.

By admin on

Sorry, we don't sell that drone so can't tell you for sure. However, it will work if the drone has a PWM servo output.

hi there,

what maximum payload can this carry?

is there a more easier remote system than the one above ?

By Praveen Raj (not verified) on

What will be the max power consumption of this servo?

By admin on

Sorry we don't have the measurements for this exact servo, but servos typically draw about 10ma at idle, stall about 200-250ma, normal flying is about 75-150ma.

Hi

When you say that the draw is 10ma at idle, stall about 200-250ma, normal flying is about 75-150ma.

are you talking about the draw of the servo or the drone?

By ernade on

How long is the servo wire? Could be possible to separate the power from the signal to use a separate LiPo for all accessories?

By Joe Smith (not verified) on

How much does this weigh and what are the other dimentions for this device

By Abdullah (not verified) on

Can this servo be controlled using a pixhawk?

By william on

It can work with any device that can provide a controllable PWM signal output. It works like a servo, if you can operate servo, then you can use this release mechanism. The easiest method is to connect to a radio control PWM receiver.
